This album is the culmination of a long (for me) period of work trying to capture the highest points of where I am at this moment as a pedal steel player. Hopefully, my playing will continue to develop for the foreseeable future, but right now this is the best I can do. The 'outside' referred to here references both a conceptual/philosophical outside that (in another life) I spent years trying to grasp, and also the very beautiful sense of just being outside...hence the more homely/homestead offerings here: the two are actually related in an essential way.

This album is dedicated to my wife Fiona, not only because she is sitting right next to me, but also because she has always supported me even when she'd had to listen to each one of these tracks at least 100 times. Our house could do with better soundproofing.
