This album is a (kind of) collaboration between my son Francis and myself. From Francis's perspective, all of the 10 tracks on this album were intended for his other projects (01934 music, video commissions or his duo Sylvia Peace). However, I made him aware that I was going to have a go at creating an album that integrated his sound world with mine in a new (and very beautiful) world that neither of us inhabited. The result is a highly intricate interweaving of acoustic and electronic sounds underpinned by our shared interest in rhythm. I worked a lot harder and a lot longer on this album than on any of my others, mainly to do justice to Francis's tracks (which he had also worked long and hard on) but also to prove a point: that there is a future for the pedal steel guitar... if only people would have the good sense to listen to this album! If only, if only...
