This album was recorded in one day, on a cold day in Welwyn Garden City, in November 2018. Veryan and I had not played together since the days of our band Stinky Winkles in 1981, so it had been a while. Seven tracks were recorded all lasting about 30 minutes each, which is quite a lot, and too much for one album. I selected eight excerpts for this album, but I could easily have chosen eight different excerpts as, no doubt, Veryan could have too. This was my first attempt at playing freely improvised music on the pedal steel guitar, and I'm pretty sure it was the first time Veryan had played with a steel guitarist, although, to be honest, I haven't asked him.

I have also added three bonus tracks of Veryan and me playing together, albeit virtually rather than face-to-face. Track 10 was recorded in 2005. The piano part of track 11 was also recorded in 2005, but I added electric guitar about three years ago. Track 9 was recorded in 2020.

The initial session for this album was intended to include the great steel player Susan Alcorn who was in London at the time. Due to impossible logistics, this never came to pass, something that I will forever regret. So this album is dedicated to her.
